Kunkeshwar Temple

Kunkeshwar Temple, located in Kunkeshwar village of Devgad taluka in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra, is an ancient and revered temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Often called the “Kashi of Konkan,” the temple is believed to have been built around the 11th–12th century and showcases traditional stone architecture with intricate carvings and a majestic shikhara (tower). Situated right beside the Arabian Sea, the temple offers a unique spiritual and scenic experience where devotees can worship while enjoying the sound and view of the ocean waves.
The temple complex includes the main Shiva shrine and several smaller shrines dedicated to various Hindu deities. Thousands of pilgrims visit Kunkeshwar Temple throughout the year, especially during Mahashivratri and other important Hindu festivals. Surrounded by coconut and mango plantations and the natural beauty of the Konkan coastline, Kunkeshwar Temple is not only a significant religious site but also a popular tourist attraction known for its peaceful atmosphere, cultural heritage, and breathtaking seaside location.

The temple is about 14 km from Devgad town, 54 km from Malvan, and around 60 km from Kankavli. Regular buses, taxis, and private vehicles can reach Kunkeshwar directly.
